Frequently Asked Questions : Please Read Before Booking

How do I prepare for an Empower Massage?

All forms are required to be completed and submitted prior to arriving. This ensures that you have read and agreed to policies and helps me prepare for your session. Please arrive 5 minutes prior to your scheduled time and use the restroom to avoid disruption to your session time. The key to a successful session is communication. I will check in periodically for feedback.

How often should I receive massage or MLD?

Frequency will depend on your goal. I will offer my recommendation after we complete your first session. The recommendation is based on my assessment during your session, your health history and your goal in mind to achieve best results. However, I understand it may be difficult to adhere to the recommended schedule. This does not mean that you won’t make progress or that massage will be beneficial in your case. It simply means we will need to modify expectations around what you’re able to commit too. Unless it is contraindicated, massage has many benefits regardless of frequency. A goal is not required!

What is your cancellation policy?

Sessions must be canceled or rescheduled with no less than a 24 hour notice to avoid a 50% cancellation fee for the first late cancel and 100% for future late cancellations. Please note that this is regardless of reason (sickness, work, childcare, etc) and is non-negotiable as we offer flexible alternatives to avoid the cancellation fee. Alternative options are stated in your intake form. Please review all forms carefully! If you are over 37 weeks, we’ll discuss booking options in case of labor. No shows will be charged 100% of the session. If there is no communication, you will not be able to book in the future.

How do I prepare for a Prenatal Massage?

All forms are required to be completed and submitted prior to arriving. This ensures that you have read and agreed to policies and helps me prepare for your session. Please arrive 5 minutes prior to your scheduled time and use the restroom to avoid disruption to your session time. Pillows and bolsters will be provided but you may bring your own favorite pillow to support comfort. The key to a successful session is communication. I will check in periodically for feedback.

Can I book a Natural Labor Stimulation session before 40 weeks?

The only exception are those who are booked for an induction and would like to try and progress labor naturally in preparation for the induction or in hopes of avoiding it. A doctors release is required.

Can I book a single visit as needed?

Absolutely. I totally get how challenging it can be to book self care appointments on a regular basis and believe that massage is powerful for our well being whether you book once a year or more. As needed sessions are great for those who are are dealing with acute stress levels, simply need to decompress or need temporary relief. They are also great for gifts for friends and family! Therapeutic plans are for those seeking more long-term relief or require on going care to manage a condition.

Do you see men?

Yes. While I primarily work with women, my focus is the health of the whole family and that includes partners. However, they must be a referral from a provider I know or an existing client.

How soon can I receive a prenatal or postpartum massage?

For a prenatal massage, you may receive massage as early as you feel comfortable with. You will fill out forms and if anything stands out as a contraindication or concern, I will reach out to discuss. If you have any questions or concerns, please don’t hesitate to reach out.

For postpartum massage, you may book as soon as you’d like. Please call/text if you’re 2 weeks postpartum or less in order to discuss labor and delivery and any potential contraindications. Typically, the earlier you are postpartum the more modifications you may need such as positioning for c-section, engorgement, complications, etc. Around 4-8 weeks, most clients are comfortable receiving a full body session.

Do you offer home visits?

At this time I offer home visits on a case by case basis for established clients if my schedule allows. This is not a permanent option and is reserved for clients who are not able to make it to the office temporarily. For my safety, I do not travel with my office table. These sessions are designed to address a specific problem and treatment will be provided clothed from the bed, seated, standing, or on my small travel table.
